Michael Albano  AURORA, CO
Hello, my name is Michael Albano. I was born in Santa Maria, California. I am a Filipino-American. Most of my childhood was primarily in the military bases in Japan.

I spent most of my adolescent years, overseas, traveling from Japan to the Philippines, and to Hawaii. I eventually  graduated from Eaglecrest High School in Centennial, Colorado, where life became more stable.

I always had aspirations to go to a visual and audio institute for a Bachelors of Arts degree, but was guided to be more practical and go into a career field that is in high demand, which was nursing. This caused an uproar in my nuclear family. I wanted to go to an Art Institute to study television production, but instead I took a life detour and joined the Colorado Air Force National Guard. This deterred my creative side of my life to become more independent and work my own way through college. Long story short, my parents and I eventually got on the same page and now support me as long as I follow my heart and what makes me happy. That led me to caring for others as a way to live.

I researched and found a cozy private program called the South Denver School of Nursing Arts to get my certification to become a certified nurses aide. The program was mainly aimed to apply to work at home health care and long-term facilities, but coincidentally it was the University of Colorado Hospital, part of the UCHealth network, that showed interest in me and I took it. I currently enjoy making miracles happen there on the Medical Intensive Care Unit. I work alongside other like-minded individuals such as nurses, doctors, physical therapists, dietitians, environmental services, and many other clinical disciplines as a dynamic team to heal and mend people in critical care and beyond.

I got my Bachelors Degree of Science in Technical Communications at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, with a minor in Biology. The degree was a very technical and hands-on curriculum, which was very similar to a vocational school for broadcasting. The program combined the theory and working knowledge of technology, such as video and audio equipment injunction with computers, to use in any job or career I pursue. What I learned most, from my undergraduate years, is that it taught me how to use the working technology we have today and make a better future through multimedia as my medium, or utility, to make a positive impact. These skills can be applied in the work environment, hobbies, personal gatherings, weddings, and broad interpersonal and intrapersonal communication with other individuals.  This program had a great mix of art and science that fed my creative spirit and soul to do good in the world. This led me to my next chapter in life.

I am currently at the Iliff School of Theology, within the realm of the University of Denver. I am taking steps to becoming a  palliative-focused caregiver in Colorado. I aim to make a positive change with the next generation of children, adolescents, and young adults because that is the best place to build their moral compass, values, and network support system for their future as a valued member of society.

At this time, I learned that there is politics in everything we do and realized that I still wanted to counsel others, but in a more existential way which led me to research to becoming a spiritual caregiver, or also called a hospital chaplain. I am already working miracles at the MICU, as a patient care technician, but I can do so much more as a hospital chaplain in the journey/process of life, death, and everything else that lingers around those two milestones in life.

I am a life-long learner and passionate caregiver  to all. That is my calling. $1, $5, $10, $20, and /or $50. Heck, I already put down $100 toward my goal. I'm already succeeding.

A heavenly cautionary conundrum has occurred and it shattered my essence into a grid, oasis-like structure. I am still alive, of course, but I just needed some time to hibernate, cooldown, and refresh myself back into crystal clear clarity. I am renewed and ready like a mana tree next to a wishing well filled with an elixir contained with particles of stardust. TBC.
