Educating Eirinn

Eirinn is a 4 year  old little girl with severe autism and a verry rare genetic condition not much is known about . Eirrin can not stand by herself or walk and has verry few clear words . We were not seeing much progress in our daughter’s development. We felt at a loss, and our beautiful little girl seemed lost to us. We struggled to reach her. No matter how hard we tried, our daughter couldn’t even cope with a cuddle or give eye contact. So we struggled to be able to teach her anything. That was untill learning about scientific methods of teaching called applied behaviour anylisis  . We discoverd that by learning about these scientific principles it was possible to teach our daughter what many could not  . We learned how to help her take control whilst having meltdowns. We watched in total awe as our screaming, frustrated little girl’s tears turned into laugh s and giggles. We learned to help her cope with sensory processing issues. We learned to teach her to feed herself . We learned to teach her to pull-to-stand . We tought her to give eye contact and to engage with the world around her . We are only just realy starting this journey of learning to teach our daughter . Yet what we have learned is that we can learn and so can she . Thanks to those who engaged with us , educated us and empowerd us . Unfortunatly it is verry difficult to get local authoritys and health authoritys  to fund this treatment even though it has a far greater evidence base and sucess rate than any other intervention these authorities and services use . Eirinn attends a ABA saturday club on a saturday run by the wonderfull Focuss Manchester and now we are about to try and set a home program of ABA up  to help Eirinn further progress like we firmly believe she can with the right help and support . So we  plan to set up a home ABA  program and prove that ABA is effective and what Eirinn needs  to progress by  doing this we hope that our local authority will  then fund it . Eirinn deserves the chance to progress and learn like every one else . We would not only be helping Eirinn but also helping others in the same  position as Eirinn , as we would be the first to gain ABA in our local authority opening the door for others . Any donation big or small will go directly to helping Eirinn achieve her potetial as much as possible and show  what is possible with the right interventions , with the right help she will progress .
