A cause I care about needs help

Our son,  Andrew Porter-Mitchell was a victim of senseless gun violence while sitting at a red light on his way home from work.  This occurred days before Christmas and our family is still in shock.  In Andrew's memory, we have decided to support C5LA, a charity that we have worked with before and Andrew was familiar with. 

The mission of the C5 Youth Foundation of Southern California is to change the odds for high-potential teens from under-resourced communities by inspiring them to pursue personal success, while preparing them for leadership roles in school, college, work and their communities.  100% of the students that complete the C5LA program graduate high school and 95% of those students matriculate to college. 

Teens participate in 4 different summer experiences (a 1-month camp in Wyoming, a 2-week backpacking trip, a 1-week college tour, and a 1-week college dorming experience). In addition, teens attend Pathway Events (5-8 Saturdays a year visiting college campuses, performing community service, or exploring our community and culture).  This program is totally free for participants.  C5LA is totally dependent on donations to stay viable. 

Even though our son Andrew never participated in the C5LA program,  he was aware of the advantages of the program and always talked of helping those who he considered disadvantage.  His goal was to become an LAPD police officer and give back to the community he loved.  Your donation, in honor of Andrew, would help C5LA continue on their mission of creating and inspiring teens considered at risk.
