Bosnia flooding fund 2014

My name is Amina Nuhanović and I am originally from Rogatica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am trying to organize these donations that will help the people of Bosnia in these devastating times and the aftermath recovery.
With the severe historical flooding and state of emergency declared throughout Bosnia, there is massive destruction of streets, buildings and homes affecting around 1.2 million people. Thousands are being evacuated from their homes because of flooding and landslides and those families need our help, whether it is to buy food, clothes or other necessities. On top of all that, the floods and landslides raise fears of nearly 120,000 unexploded land mines and their warning signs being toppled and in many cases dislodged the mines themselves.
Along with helping the people of Bosnia in the current situation with their most necessities such as medicine and food, I want this fund to keep going indefinitely to keep helping with the aftermath of this disaster.
I sympathize and empathize with the victims of these massive floods who are being displaced from their homes and are experiencing sickness because I myself, along with my family, experienced anything and everything you can imagine during the 4 year war (1992-1996). I was only 6 but I can sure tell you every moment of those 4 years and what I went through including the aftermath of it as well. I moved to the US in 1999 (when I was 13), where I started high school and finished college with a Acconting/Business Administration and Sociology degree. I feel at home here because I was presented numerous opportunities of sucess; however, I have never forgotten where I came from, which is why I want to help during these devastating times that my fellow Bosnians are going through, which I recall going through myself during the war times.
I want to assure you that I have the best and most sincere interest in helping the needy families and to make sure the donations get to the right people and are distributed transparently and fairly.
Please donate as much as you can, even if it's $1 because any amount will be a great help to the people of Bosnia who were displaced from their homes.
When I started this "little" fund here localy in Iowa, I did not imagine it would get this much attention and so many donations, which is a pleasant suprise that will help people. My initial plan was to donate everything to Red Cross in BIH and possibly a couple other non-for-profits in Bosnia. After careful research and conversations with citizens and donors in Bosnia, it's a big sum to be sent to one place and have the trust it will be spent right. I actually will be visiting Bosnia for couple of weeks and make sure this money is distributed fairly. I personally want to see families directly benefit from these donations because I want OUR donations to make a true difference. The initial donations started from my friends and neighbors who had trust in me that these funds will be used in the best possible way to benefit the needy families and that's what I want to see. Everything will be documented and every penny accounted for. Thank you for having that trust in me without personally knowing me!
