Women Writing for (a) Change: Outreach
We are raising funds to sponsor one seat in our Fall Series ($300) as well as 6 weeks of classes at the Women's Center ($1500) for participants of the Women Renewed program.
These women are transitioning from incarcertation to responsible members of this community and they need our help. They have been selected to participate in a wonderful leadership program at the Women's Center, partially supported by the Women's Giving Alliance of Jacksonville and the City of Jacksonville, and our writing circle will be a part of their recovery. Please help us start small (first goal, $300) and then go higher (second goal, $1500). We would be so grateful, and so would they.
The Women's Center is a perfect match for our mission: To nurture and celebrate the individual voice by facilitating supportive writing circles and by encouraging people to craft more conscious lives through the art of writing and the practices of community.
Please help us help them. Donate today.
Here's a blog post I wrote about the Women Recharged writing circle I'm holding at the Women's Center. The women gave their permission for me to post this. Check it out and thank you for your support! http://womenwritingjacksonville.com/2014/06/10/she-preached-good-posture/
I am really looking forward to our Public ReadAround tomorrow, and I've been busily collecting silent auction items, printing the program, and putting together our Spring Series anthology. It feels good to be creating community and fulfilling our mission of creating a safe environment to hear women's voices.
I'm also thrilled to start a 6-week series on Monday at the Women's Center with the women from the Women Renewed program. These women are coming out of incarceration and rebuilding their lives, and I'm so glad to be a part of their second chance at life.
Not only that, but my daughter will be coming with me, as she is starting an internship at the Women's Center on Monday!
Thanks to everyone for their support.
