Plain and simple, the VA sucks!!
I just retired this last August from 21 hard years of faithful service in the Army, medical retirement that is. October 10th 2013, was the day mine and my family's lives changed forever. You see, I was deployed to Afghanistan and on that day was shot through the face by a Taliban sniper. I was then transferred here to San Antonio for the next 2 years of rigorous and painful surgeries to reconstruct my face and jaw. 8 so far and counting. Now that I'm more or less done with surgeries, the government decided they had no more use for me and retired me. So now me and the family decided that Texas was the place to stay. Texas takes care of their veterans, or so I thought. So now I'm living in Texas, 100% disabled through the VA and trying to live within my means. That was until the VA decided to take all my pay for the next year and leave me with nothing. Now, I'm in the final days of being kicked out into the street due to a failed attempt to close on a house I thought was in final stages of loan approval while I was leasing on a monthly basis. In short, loan wasn't approved in time agreed and now lease is terminated. Everything I had was put into this and now funds are depleted. I never wanted to be in this situation but now I'm literally choking on my pride.
