I wasn't supposed to be here...
Let me fill you in. My name is Jaxon Stanley Gemberling and I arrived on May 12, 2015 weighing 3 lbs 6 oz. I have a twin brother, Jase, who was almost twice my size weighing 6 lbs 6 oz. I caused a lot of worry for my mom and dad, Ann and Jay Gemberling, before I was born and still do now.
I was immediately sent to the NICU at St. John's Hospital so the doctors and nurses could make sure I was okay. I spent my first 56 days of my life in the NICU with great nurses and family. While there, I had surgery to put a gtube in my stomach so I could eat and gain weight. I was also looked at by a doctor who said that I have a double-outlet right ventricle with a large VSD (heart) which would require open heart surgery once I reach a good weight. More doctors came to say I have renal agenesis (missing kidney), partial absence of corpus callosum (brain), and severe scoliosis.
I was then sent home to enjoy life with my family, still with my gtube. My parents looked after me day and night to make sure I was comfortable and breathing well. However, in August, I contracted 3 viruses which brought me back to the hospital for 19 days.
But that wasn't the worst.
I went into cardiac arrest on September 15, 2015 and almost lost my life. The Emergency Room doctors and nurses saved me.
I am fighting every single day, but I know my parents need some help. I have expenses that aren't covered by health insurance. Any help you can provide me in this fight will be helpful.
