Bolingbrook is a community rich in diversity. As our village motto states "a place to grow"; which in our eyes means safely, securely, and inclusively. Over the last two months there have been heinous acts of vandalism on our Muslim neighbors. Our neighbors are being targeted because of their beliefs.
We need to stop this NOW! We need to stop hiding in our homes. We need to stop saying this isn't my problem. We don't need to know these families personally to say that this is wrong.
Help us let these families in our community know that WE STAND WITH THEM! Let's show unity by displaying "Hate Has No Home Here" signs. These can be ordered for $5.25 each. I will place an order of 100 to start us off, but can we get this to 200? 1000? We have 76,000 resident within our community, can we display unity and compassion for all? I THINK WE CAN! I think we are better than those who have done these crimes. I think we can show our kids that we know better and we do better than that.
Signs will be arriving by next week, Thursday May 30th. Email me at [email redacted] if you want to pick up and pay direct versus this sight. I will have pick up available after 2 pm on Friday, May 31st. I will send any donors my address or you can email me for it. (If you have donated a higher amount based on initial estimate, I will refund the difference.)
