Physical rehabilitation for Andres

Dear friends and family, as most of you know Andres was involved in a life threatening accident. At 8 am on Sunday February 24th he was almost crushed to death by a recycling truck in San Francisco CA. He was rushed to the emergency room where he received a full blood transfusion, emergency surgery on a ruptured bladder and internal bleeding, all of the ribs on his left side were fractured, his pelvis was shattered, and his ankle bone was broken and exposed. Both his pelivs and ankle required immediate surgery and setting. After a week in the ICU he is more stable. He has undergone two more surgeries on his ankle and pelvis. Although his spirits are high and he is incredibly grateful to be alive he has a long rode to recovery. He has retainer bars holding his pelvis and ankle in place which will be on for six more weeks. He will not have the use of his legs for two and a half more months. He requires a great deal of physical rehabilitation for his body and legs. He will be learning to walk again and regain strength in his body with the help of a physical therapist. In six weeks he will be discharged from the hospital. He will require a wheel chair for another six weeks. He will need to find a place to live with wheel chair access. Most of his medical bill has been covered by insurance. However his physical therapy will not be covered. In addition as happens in these tragic situations he will be out of work and unable to cover his bills. His doctors have told him to expect intense physical therapy for nine months and that he won't be able to work in that time. Many wonderful people have been asking how to donate.
