Months ago Rowdy Mead began suffering from shortness of breath, fatigue and eventually pain in his chest. He mentioned his symptoms to his doctor during a routine visit. He was referred to a cardiologist after an abnormal EKG.
The cardiologist decided to skip a stress test and instead scheduled Rowdy for the cath lab where he would be able to inject dye and have a good look at the heart vessels.
It was determined that Rowdy had five blockages, some of them quite serious, so he was transported by ambulance to River Bend Hospital in Eugene. Rowdy had quadruple bypass surgery on March 31, 2017.
He spent four days in the ICU after developing breathing issues. Today he was transferred to a regular room in the cardiac unit. We are hopeful he will be released this weekend. He will require 24 hour care for the first 2-3 weeks.
Rowdy is the type of man who would literally give you the shirt off his back. He is so kind and generous. His wife Robyn suffered a stoke four years ago that left her disabled and unable to work. It also left them with very high medical bills and the loss of her income. They have never recovered financially.
Rowdy will be out of work for at least three months. His employer offers five days a year of paid leave and it does not carry over. I am asking his family and friends to please step up and take the stress of unpaid bills off of him. He needs to concentrate on the long road to recovery not how he is going to make his house payment.
Funds will be used for Robyn's living expenses while in Eugene, their monthly bills and medical deductibles.
