Fiona Louise Oakes  Asheldham, ENG
Fiona Oakes runs Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary in Essex where she cares for around 400 rescued animals.

Fiona also runs marathons to help raise awareness for her work as well as to show that as a vegan for 40 years her diet is not prohibitive to athletic performance

Fiona holds three guinness world records in the marathon and is the fastest woman to run a marathon on each continent (23hrs 27 minutes)

Fiona also won the North Pole marathon setting a course record in 2013.

This year Fiona, who has twice completed the gruelling 'Marathon des Sables',  tackles her toughest challenge yet - the 4 Deserts Race - 155 mile races across each of the Sahara, the Gobi, the Atacama and finally, the last Desert - Antarctica ! - thats over 600 miles of sand and ice whilst carrying her supplies on her back.

Most competetors tackle one of the races each calandar year, however Fiona is going for the Grand Slam - all races in the same calander year! Only 9 women have ever achieved this.

Fiona is a voice for the voiceless.  She will battle through sand and ice for what she believes in.

Please support Fiona (& Percy) in this epic challenge as she raises funds to help feed the rescues and takes the cruelty free message to the four corners of the globe!

Thank you

As you may have seen on FB, Fiona's hold luggage was not put on the plane from Joberg which clearly has caused her a massive problem. Food is really difficult to source, especially when you need a weeks supply :( Plus a lot of the "compulsory" items needed for the race were in her luggage (i.e. ultralight knife as this cannot be in hand luggage etc)

Fiona has tried to source as much as she can locally & they are hoping that the bags turn up before the race starts at 8 am in the morning - a faint hope indeed

Fiona is however determined not to let this major disaster stand in her way and has gone to the base camp to do her best with Percy

Thank you for your support :)
