Hello! My name is Casey Murray. I am a cellist from the Rochester, NY area and on my way to make a career in music!
I am raising money to get my education started at Berklee College of Music.
With the funds raised I will pay the tuition deposit ($1,000 due May1st) and purchase the required computer and software ($3,000 due mid-August).
I have been a musician since age 3 and am now 18 (I'll let you do the math). I have been studying music at The Kanack School of Music where I also teach fiddle-cello and mandolin. I also travel with my bands "Food For Thought" (released our first album in 2013) and "Ginger Majority" playing for different fiddle and contra dance events across the country and have appeared on various studio albums. I have never imagined doing anything else as my career. I am primarily a folk musician so finding a college that fit me wasn't easy...but I found Berklee. Berklee is the only place with the resources for me to grow in the skills and musicianship I need.
Berklee's mission is to educate, train, and develop students to excel in music as a career that reflects the diversity of expression and opportunities that define music today. Berklee was founded on two revolutionary ideas: that musicianship could be taught through the music of the time; and that students need practical, professional skills for successful, sustainable music careers.
On March 31st, 2016, I received my acceptance letter to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. My biggest hopes are coming true.
