Core Creek Cats

For over 20 years, cats and kittens have been abandoned in the Core Creek Park in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. The dumping of cats has gotten completely out of hand. What was once a small colony has turned into at least 300 cats living in deplorable conditions. Without intervention the breeding and dumping will continue, leaving the cats and wildlife in the park at risk.

We believe in collaboration to solve difficult issues like this in their community. Working with the county, and local partner shelters, we are implementing a strategic Trap-Treat-Neuter-Place/Return program. Rescue Purrfect along with a few others will humanely trap the cats, provide treatment, and spay/neuter all cats before returning or adopting these forgotten felines. Unsocialized/feral cats will be returned to the park to live healthier, happier lives, and partners will take as many friendly cats and kittens as possible to place into homes. The park's run-down community cat houses will be replaced with clean, insulated shelters, and a structured feeding program will be put in place to continue to care for the cats remaining in the park. Law enforcement is now on board to watch for people that are abandoning animals in the park for prosecution as needed. 

While the governement, as well as private donors, have stepped in to help with the cost of spaying and neutering, we are still in need of help for the after care of many of these beautiful creatures and the varying degrees of illness and injuries that have been sustained while trying to survive a long winter without food or shelter.
