Hello, my name is Eric Stephan,
Two and a half years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. In initial treatment I went thru first line chemo and thankfully the cancer was beaten back to the point where I could have surgery to remove what was left.
I went on maintenance chemotherapy for about 6 months afterwards with no cancer. When I returned for the second part of the surgery, it was discovered that the cancer had returned. The decision was made to put me back on first line chemo treatments.
During most of this time, I was able to afford my bills as I could still work while undergoing the treatments. The side effects were not that bad at that time.
Soon after however it was discovered that the first line of treatment was not working as well as they hoped, so the doctors decided to move to second line chemotherapy. At first I could take the treatments and tolerate the side effects, but soon it became very difficult to undergo these and continue to work full time.
As oftentimes happens in extreme medical situations, I started to fall behind on bills. It was at this time that one of the unfortunate things that can occur when undergoing chemotherapy and dealing with colorectal cancers happened to me. I caught C Diff (Clostridium Difficile) which necessitated hospitalization in isolation – causing an extended period of time off of work.
It is at this point I have broken down and must reach out and seek help. The drug I need is costing me over $1,000 for a ten-day supply, and of course was not covered by my insurance. This is difficult for me, but I am asking for any help you can give. Any donation amount would be of great help.
Any money received would go to paying the medical bills, past due bills, and finishing some projects that I can no longer do. My mother is my full time caregiver and this has exhausted her savings as she continues to support me and my needs for this medication.
Any help would be great, and appreciated more than you could ever know.
