Justice for Justice

UPDATE: Justice has been seen by our amazing vet, Dr. Scott, at Deason Animal Hospital. He snapped at the vet when his stomach was palpated because he's in pain. Even Dr. Scott was surprised with how severe his mange was. You could see the tears coming from Justice's eyes as he was being examined. Poor guy is miserable. Fortunately, he is heart worm (HW) negative, which was a concern because he has a heart murmur (arrhythmia). He has some fluid in his lungs causing mild congestion. He is loaded with hookworms and even had demodex mites in his fecal exam. He is being treated for both sarcoptic and demodetic mange, as well as a yeast infection (the yellow crusting of his skin) and a bacterial infection (open sores). He is showing signs of having a foreign object in his stomach, so the vet is monitoring him closely in the event he needs to do an endoscopy and/or surgery. He has already been bathed with medicated shampoo and started on fluids via IV. He will remain with the vet for at least week and get medicated baths every other day. We are already at $500 for his treatment, but if he needs surgery, we will be looking at $1,000. Justice is safe now that he's with the Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter.
