I have tried to stay strong but the stress is overwhelming right now. We didn't want to do this, but we are just drowning in immediate medical expenses due to my permanent spinal nerve damage.
I have been on disability for four years after trying to work through my illness for as long as i could. i have permanent nerve damage and constant pain from the waist down. i have over 10 different conditions which contribute to my pain including degenerative disc disease, spinal arthritis, arachnoiditis, spinal stenosis, and peripheral neuropathy. I have had 5 back surgeries (so far) but sustained permanent nerve damage in the process due to insurance delays. I was recently hospitalized for complications from my neuropathy. It is affecting the circulation in my legs causing my pulse to drop to dangerous levels.
I was in the infamous medicare donut hole most of 2014, and my copays were over $500 per month for necessary medications. I am bedridden without it. I had 4 surgeries last year partially due to injuries sustained trying to help a friend. I am insured, but all the copays for tests, treatments, appointments and surgeries are so much and most need to be paid up front.
I was recently interviewed by the Reno Gazette Journal about medical marijuana dispensaries. When they open, that will be my next option to help relieve my pain. http://www.rgj.com/videos/news/2014/05/19/9252421/
I tried acupuncture which did not work well for me. We just don't know where to turn anymore - we have borrowed from good friends, I try to make money from home baking, and selling on Ebay but we just can't make ends meet.
Then comes the car repairs - we had over $4000 in car repairs last year. The car runs great now, and we absolutely can't afford a new car. It is a must for my husband to get to work.
We are just over the financial limits to receive extra medicare help or financial help for my expensive medications. I have tried! All they look at is gross income and not expenses. Any donation would be much appreciated - even $1 or $2. I know many other people in the same position as I am due to medical expenses.
I am very lucky to have a loving, hard working, supportive husband who takes great care of me. I would love to get some of this financial worry off of him.
