My Greater: AMTA
Over the past four years I've sought for the etchings of a man, who would constantly whisper things in my ear while I dream. A man who's unapologetic with his actions, yet respectable with his words. A man that maintains a humble heart, and seeks to serve the greater body with his gift. I can say now that the man in my dream is my future self. All my life I've had this vision of who I wanted to be, yet no idea how to become him. As I grow and mature, I think back to who I was and compare him to who I am today, and the growth makes me smile because I'm not were I want to be, but I am reminded that I am going somewhere.
With the that being said, in the craziest of way I found a love for musical theatre at Howard. Now, I have no idea why, but I threw myself into ever dance class I could take without dying (but really), knocked on ever door that was slightly cracked for a fifteen or thirty minute voice lesson (very serious), and I even received the chance to play a lead in the musical "Anything Goes"(mortified). In an unfamiliar world, I grounded myself and refused to take no for an answer.
Before graduation, I constructed, developed, and rehearsed my very own musical theatre solo showcase titled "That Guy Live", and by the grace of God I was able to do pretty well if I do say so myself lol. All of the sweat, sleepless nights, and pure drive has brought me to this very moment.
I have recently been accepted into the American Musical Theatre Academy.
After my application, interview, and audition, I received a $26,500 scholarship to be apart of the Professional Development Program, which cost 34,000 for the entire year.
Thats $7,500 left to cover....
Now, in good ol Sideeq fashion I've been working tirelessly to prepare for my move to New York, and I've already paid $2,375 in tution, which leaves $5,125 left to cover. I'm not asking for a arm and leg, but the chance for you to support something GREAT. When I say this program can change my life, I am telling no joke.
I've already booked my first show 36 days after graduation. I'll be leading the show "Brownsville Song" at Theatre Alliance in DC right before I move to NYC.
If you could donate anything to this campaign I'd greatly appreciate it, AND since your here ....Check out a few things I've worked on.
