A family in our school is in great need. We would like to collect funds to help this single mother get her family back on their feet.
Imagine you are in your home sleeping when someone breaks into your house. Someone you don't know and have never seen is armed with a knife and a gun and suddenly you are in grave danger. But not just you, there are two school-aged children living in the home with you. You make it out alive with your two children, but your home is a crime scene and so torn up by the flash-bang and smoke grenades as to be unlivable. This story is real and was broadcast by the CBS affiliate in Albuquerque. They were a typical family until the mother was diagnosed with stage-three cancer and required almost immediate surgery. With the family car having been disabled in a recent accident, public transportation has become too difficult to even bring home groceries, and work is not a possibility. Now you have been forced from your home by the most surreal of circumstances and all your possessions are behind yellow crime-scene tape; clothing, toiletries, and food. The insurance company is putting you up in a hotel, but it's not like home. It's an empty suite and you lack even the basics, like cooking oil to prepare a meal for your family. With all of the extra expenses, how are you going to pay your monthly bills? This family needs: (1) clothing, (2) back to school supplies, (3) groceries, (4) money to make the house payment, and (5) the deductible for the car repairs. School staff will help the children cope, but the lack of even the most basic supplies like a hair brush for the mother are not accessible for them due to finances and lack of transportation. The mother needs weeks to recover from her surgery and will be out of work during recovery, and the children need to be ready for school August 14th.
This is the reality that one of our families face. It's time we took care of each other. Please support this amazingly strong and gracious family!! Any little bit will be greatly appreciated.
