This is Chico. He is only 8 mos old and was abandoned here in Pendleton County, WV, along with his brother Marco in April 2014. They are playful, happy normal pups who did not deserve to be treated this way but PAWS can help to get these 2 sweet pups saved, vetted and on their way to new Forever Homes. We take in abandoned dogs and they temporarily stay in foster homes during their time w/ PAWS. But we often face a dilema...what to do when our foster homes are full??????? We have no shelter building, few residents, most of whom are overburdened w/ pets as it is...what to do? We dread having to turn away healthy, adoptable pups like these 2! But, where can they stay temporarily till adopted?
So we turn to a very good and reasonably priced boarding kennel, who walks the dogs 3 times daily and cares for and feeds them well! Our dogs always leave this kennel looking great and so we know it's the right thing to do. We are so fortunate to have this option for unwanted and stray dogs and pups! This kenneling option saved Chico's life, and his brother's life too, due to PAWS intervened when the Pendleton County Sheriff's dept was on the way to pick them up and transport them to a neighboring county pound, where most dogs are euthanized after a 5 day holding period. But we knew we could count on the kennel to help! So we got these 2 and they are safe and sound.
YAHOOO, the pups are saved! No problem? PROBLEM! The dogs are doing just great but we have incurred bills of approx $4000.00 in boarding dogs!
