Grateful Doggies Rescue Retreat

Donation protected
Hello my name is Steve and I am the owner of Grateful Doggies Canine Freedom Transport.  We are a transport company that travels weekly down south to bring as many rescue dogs as possible back with us north to adopters, fosters and comitted rescues.  It's been over 2 years we have been doing this with over 7000 dogs that have boarded our buses.  Majority of our passengers were facing euthanasia and the hopes of them having a great life in their current situation was bleak.  We are very proud to be part of the team along with participating shelters, vets, rescues, fosters and the many others it takes to make this happen.  You can learn more about us at www.gratefuldoggies.net and on Facebook at Grateful Doggies- Canine Freedom Transport

When I began this venture I set the goal of creating a self sustained, non profit retreat that encompassed all of the needs of the rescue dogs we transport including training, vetting, grooming, rehabilitation and most of all a beautiful adoption center to help these babies find loving forever homes. I recently had the opportunity to take over a small boarding facility in Middletown NY with hopes of creating our  "Rescue Retreat".  We are currently open but are very underfunded and are looking for the funds to make what I have set out to do a reality.  My hope is to secure funding for all the necessary equipment, construction, accounting structure and operating costs to turn this little facility into not only a temporary home where all rescue animals are welcome and are sure to find a loving family and a forever home to call their own but also a community of animal loving people dedicated to bettering the lives of those animals in need.

In our current operating structure we are still offering boarding and grooming to the public to fund discounted boarding to local rescues in need of more space to house their dogs until fosters become available or the animals are adopted.  Once construction is done, we will continue to offer services to the public in order to sustain and build on the discounted and free services we plan for rescue dogs.  Ultimately we would like to offer 100% free boarding and care for every single animal that walks through our doors from participating rescues and I know with the help of the animal loving society this dream can become a reality.

I am offering 100% transparency in this venture and promise that every cent will go to exactly what we promised it would.  As we recieve funds, we will update where they went.  The costs of the following are based on an average of estimates we have recieved for each product or service.  Besides the following there are so many possibilities if we recieve the necessary funding and in the end we know there will be so many more lives saved.

- Costs to establish the 501c3 recognition (will also allow us to apply for grants, food programs etc)$1200
- Refurbishing of our current runs and enclosures (sand blasting and powdercoating everything so it is rust and bacteria resistant $4800
- Fencing (create between 6 and 10 additional play yards and create a perimeter fence that will also be a nature walk to leash train dogs, an adoption run where potential families can test dogs with their current animals etc) $8700
-Quarantine rooms (we have the runs already set up but need plumbing and insulation to adequately heat and cool the areas.  This allows us take on dogs with communicable disease while they recover and a place to house all of our new guests to be sure they are not currently ill and can infect our other guests) $5750
- Equpiment for Bathing/Grooming (dryers, hydraulic tables, sanitary tubs, smallwares etc.) $2375
- Housing units to hold and display adoptable dogs (2) and cats (1) (will provide a showcase for all of our adoptable pets in our lobby area)  Each unit houses anywhere from 6 to 10 animals in a clean and comfortable setting for the public to see.  $9200
- Adoption kiosk which will contain a computer system tbd, desk and seating where potential adopters can fill out online applications with participating rescues to make the adoption process efficient. $3650
-Reliable used vehicle to bring animals to vet visits, adoption events, home trials etc. (mini van or suv including years registration and insurance costs) ( We would welcome a suitable donated vehicle!)$9500
- Kitchen Appliances such as: Refrigerator for meds and specialty foods.  High temp dishwasher for proper disinfecting of wares. $1900
-  Website.  I am in the process of creating a DYI site for now but would ideally like to have a fully functioning web page that would have all adoptable animals (volunteer web designer/host would be amazing)$ ???
- Portable seating, tables and tents so we can offer free seminars inside and out to spread the word about the importance of getting involved in rescue, spay/neuter of pets, proper health and care for pets and adoption events $1150

The first step is to establish the 501c3 recognition with the IRS.  All donations made wil be tax deductible once the approval process is complete.  Info in regards to that can be found here:   https://www.irs.gov/Charities-&-Non-Profits/Charitable-Organizations/Contributions-to-Organization-with-IRS-Application-Pending

The sooner we secure funding, the sooner we can provide all of these great services.   These are the items we feel would benefit most at start up and allow us to offer everything we'd like to.   If you are in a position to donate your services or equipment in lieu of monetary we welcome all of the help we can.  If you think you can provide equipment or service that we have not listed please let me know as we are open to all suggestions that could better our mission.  We are already doing everything on a small scale but I just know with funding we can blow this mission out of the water and do so much more for the animals in need.

As a child, my Mother prayed to Saint Francis of Assisi each and every day and we housed every animal possible in a small suburbian home including everything from rabbits, raccoons, birds,  dogs and cats.  This led me to open my arms to stray animals in need long before I knew rescue even existed.   I know my Mother is proud of what I have done so far but following through on my vision for the retreat would make her smile from heaven even more.   I  began this mission with very little funding and not much in sight without additional support but regardless of how much funding I do recieve I am comitted to acchieving my goals because I know how many animals will benefit.  Help me and all of those that join me each day in this mission make this retreat a community, not just a building.  I know we can do so much with hard work and perservearance and we are  committed to that already but I know I can do that much more and that the sky is the limit with your help.

I can not express how grateful I would be for any/all help you can offer.  I promise to make this dream of mine come true and it will benefit so many animals in need.  Please join me and lets save thousands!

Look a dog that has been rescued right in their eyes and you will know exactly what a Grateful Doggy is.  Save them, hold them, love them......We are Grateful Doggies
