Aaron's Special Needs Tuition-BLS

Hello Everyone! My name is Adina and these are my children, Addie and Aaron.

Below is my son, Aaron who is 10 years old and suffers from Epilepsy, Anxiety Disorder, and ADHD.  Aaron enjoys playing the drums, riding his bike, and outdoor time with his best friend in the world, Addie!

Aaron was diagnosed with epilepsy after having a seizure during school and being rushed to the hospital via ambulance. It was the worst day of my life!!! I sat in the hospital and watched my child get hooked up to all the machines and IV's. I can recount every machine alarm that went off and for each one I signaled for a nurse. I never left his side as his body seized and sweat for hours and hours at a time. It broke me down to the floor to hear his cries for me to help him. I still to this day have vivid nightmares of the desperation, tone, and urgency in his voice, as he screamed for his Mommy.
For going on three years, I have researched and vowed to create a healthy environment for my son to develop skills hindered due to his disabilities. I have discovered many non-insurance funded activities that positively influence my son's development. However, I am no longer able to fund those therapies and extracurricular activities. My family has exhausted all it's resources towards a nonpublic placement catering to the special needs of my child, Aaron. The school system has agreed to finance partial tuition payment in exchange that we drop the Due Process Hearing. However, this will not be a permanent placement for my son. The school system is only willing to cover partial expenses for one school year.
As parents, we are forced to make tough decisions for the safety and sanity of our children. I decided to accept the partial payment offer. This would allow my son major relief from being enrolled in the public school system, where he has been bullied and pushed along academically for years. We moved from the area where my child was being bullied. The same children from the neighborhood attended his school and proceeded to bully him from 2nd through 4th grade. Due to bullying in 4th grade my child has socially shut down, his seizure activity has increased, and his anxiety levels during school reached extremely high levels. Aaron began losing weight, not eating, and becoming very depressed. I was forced to contact the superintendent and principal numerous times to attempt to halt the bullying; to no avail. We tried to address the all issues during my son's IEP meetings and mediations. Again we were overlooked. I have contacted every agency within and outside of the school system for assistance to no avail. Not only was my child being bullied but his was being pushed along in school as well. In result, I have hired an education attorney.

I am a very involved parent. I save every paper sent home. I review classwork with my son nightly because I knew he was not able to retain all the information needed to succeed in class the next day. Aaron also has low working memory. The teachers have done all they could do to help. With the resources available and the workload increased, they weren't able to do much to help my child. The principal also had a hand in intentional discrimination against my child. Whenever I would contact the school system the principal would retaliate against by son or myself with "policy changes". Suspiciously, the principal announced her unexpected, early retirement, shortly after I contacted the superintendent for the fourth time. She gave two weeks notice and my questions have yet to be answered. In summation, my son needed to get out of public placement as soon as possible. His life depended on it.

We have battled with administrators and lawyers of the school system to fund full placement for my child to no avail. We lost the battle and I come to you today so we may win the war! I ask that you donate and share this link to HELP FUND AARON'S SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION!

We should all be advocates for children. I want to thank you for taking your time to read more about my son and his special needs struggle. Please find it in your heart to donate towards funding my child's nonpublic special needs education.  Aaron graduates high school in 7 years and every year we will need to raise money for tuition. Below are links of more information on epilepsy, anxiety, ADHD, and IEP's! Stay informed, everyone!
