First of all THANK YOU for reading this.
Mark has been through so much in the past few years...We are so blessed to have so many people praying for us and loving us. A few friends suggested starting this page to try and raise some money for our mounting medical expenses. This is very hard considering we are usually the fundraisers and the helpers of others. This is probably the hardest thing I have every had to write and it doesn't come easily to admit we need help but we desperately need help. We are going to lose everything materially that we have but I don't even care about that...I need to find a way to pay for basic medical care for Mark and that is expensive.
The story is long...where do I start...
Mark was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 1994 and was managing the disease with medication but about 4 years ago he started experiencing some of the side-affects, especially foot neuropathy. He developed a foot injury that wouldn't heal and that progressed to having to have his toe amputated then the surgical shoe he wore caused a blister that turned into an ulcer and would not heal for almost 3 years...between 6 hospital stays for various infections and bone fractures and four additional surgeries over the 3 years in June he had to have his leg amputated below the knee. In the midst of all of the hospital visits and stays and more doctors visits...Mark lost his job...Mark was the provider of our health insurance...which we no longer have...So that brings us to this evening when I opened a Cobra letter and because of a technical misunderstanding on my part, we received our final denial today after our third appeal. We also don't qualify for any type of public aid. Mark needs health insurance to continue to have physical therapy for his amputation and also the medications to control the diabetes.
We have tens of thousands of dollars worth of outstanding medical bills and more to come now that this COBRA was terminated. I am trying my very best to stand in Faith that God is in control and there is something on the other side of this that is amazing and will prove His Glory! I am humbly asking for financial help in this trial. Help that will provide us health insurance for Mark. Would you also pray that Mark would find a job.
