Juniper's Trip to Coastal Studies Girls

Aloha, my name is Juniper Ozbolt and I am a sophmore at Hawaii Academy of Arts and Science Public Charter School in Pahoa, Hawaii. I have been accepted to Coastal Studies for Girls. http://www.coastalstudiesforgirls.org/ It is a 16-week long science and leadership all-girls school in Freeport, Maine. There is a Fall 2014 semester and a Spring 2015 semester. I have chosen to go in Spring 2015. The tuition of the program was $19,750 plus transportation costs. My family has applied for financial aid and have recieved a generous donation, making our tuitonion  $9,870. Plane tickets to Maine average more than $1,200. My family is below the poverty line and we will have difficulties making this dream of mine come true. I don't want monetary reasons to be the cause of me not being able to reach my dreams, broaden my horizons, increase my potential, and help me find myself. I am a hardworking straight A student who has over 15 extracurricular this year alone. I have been a participant in the USC Summer Marine Lab for High School Students. This was a marine science, week-long camp on Catalina Island, in California. The only reason I was able to have that amazing experience was because all costs were paid by the program. The program really helped me understand that I can do anything that I want if I try hard enough. Since I am a leader in my community, at my shool, and in my many extracurricular, I can inspire other young woman to pursue their dreams and give them a hunger for science and knowledge. I will be able to instill some of the knowledge and experience I will gain by attending Coastal Studies for Girls into these young women and even younger children. I feel that by participating in this program, I will be prepared for college, gain an idea of what path I want to take in my life, and help other young women and children along this path as well. To be able to achieve this dream, I need all the help I can get. In exchange, for any amount of money donated, I will email the donators an update of my adventure accompanied by a picture every week. I am a young woman trying to achieve my dreams and experience the world in a whole other sense!
