surgery for Shrimp

Hi friends and family,

We have never set up a go fund me before so please excuse our awkwardness in asking for money - but we are hoping we can ask you to help us help a little cat we have been calling Shrimp.

As many of you know, we are cat people, and we also recently moved. As we left South Philly we were packing up when we found a cat hiding in the wheel well of Laura's car, we struggled to pull the little cat out, she was really holding on in there (although we only discovered she was a female when we took her to the vets). The cat had trouble walking and was in pretty bad shape so we decided to drive her to PAWs in Philly to get her some attention. Unfortunately PAWs wouldn't take her, and as it was an hour until we needed to head to the new house to close so we just popped her in Laura's gym bag and headed out to NJ her because what else were we supposed to do?

As many of you know we have a trio of animals - 2 cats (Salem and Charles) and Bernie the dog, so poor Shrimp has been tucked up in the office room of our garage until we know she is de-flead and was cleared for action (today we discovered he is not carrying feline HIV). We took her to a few shelters and emergency clinics in NJ who wouldn't help us and told us if we surrendered her she would most likely be euthanized.

So we decided to take financial responsibility for her and pay the emergency vets in Swedesboro $700 for her check up and x-rays and pain killers to try to help this sweet little cat. Unfortunately after doing this we then discovered she was most definitely the victim of abuse and  her back leg was fractured and we would need to pay at least $2,000 to have the leg amputated (with surgical options to save her leg upwards of $4,000). Unfortunately with a new house and a million things going on we don't have the resources to do this right now, so we turn to you, hopeful that a spare few dollars here and there can add up to something that can help us get Shrimp back on her feet. We promise to keep you updated and show you her progress as she becomes the ultimate tripod kitty.

Thank you to you all, even just for reading this kitty saga.
Love - Gary and Laura (and Shrimp)
