FITB FTC World Championships 2014

Donation protected
We are team 4140 Fish in the Boat from Lakeville, Minnesota. We have been a competitive robotics team for nine years. We competed for six years in FIRST Lego League (FLL) and four years in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), with one overlap year when we participated in both programs. Throughout the season, we've worked to our full potential and just last weekend we advanced to the FTC World Championship Tournament in St. Louis on April 23rd-26th! This season, we won the Inspire Award and the Think award at MN and WI state tournaments, and the Connect Award at the FTC North Super Regional Tournament.

As a Minnesota team, and as the Wisconsin Inspire Award winner, we will represent both states at the world championship and compete against 127 teams from more than sixteen nations. According to usfirst.org, our team is ranked among the top 4% of all FTC teams worldwide!

We are passionate about the game, but strive for an even greater goal: to mentor young teams and expose them to engineering. We focus on teaching the skills we have acquired that will last a lifetime. This year we've logged over 1500 volunteer hours to reach this goal. As a FIRST team, we embrace the tools the program has given to us in our nine years of participation. We yearn to spread the value of the program to kids from FLL and to students our age, in the hope that they will do the same. We call this the ripple effect.

After our final tournament, we will launch a program called "Fish in the Boat Robotics". This program will provide a resource for teams who need equipment, supplies, extra help, and social networking opportunities among other teams in FIRST. We would like our legacy of growing the FIRST community to continue.

We are in our final two weeks of preparing for competition and we need financial assistance to get us to the FTC World Championship.  All donations are greatly appreciated and no contribution is too small.  As UCLA basketball coach John Wooden once said, "It's the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen."

Thank you for your help and support.  Your generosity will send us to great heights!
