85 Year Old Tadley Man Scammed

Cat Braybrooke and Pauline Norris have set up this page with real hope that Tadley residents can come together and restore some hope and spirit to the elderly gentleman that was conned out of money this week. Sadly, people feel that it is okay to prey on the vulnerable and rob them of, if not their life savings then money that no-one could afford to lose.
You may have seen it in the Gazette or via Basingstoke Police but this is what has happened to a member of our community:
On the 6th July 2018 an 85 year old man was approached by 3 males who told him that his roof needed cleaning. He agreed to the roof being cleaned for the price of £100. Sadly, as is not common by these type of con men, the price quickly escalated, unnecessary work was carried out and the price reached £1,850 (of which he was able to pay £1000 to the con men).
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the work being carried out in Elmhurst, Tadley. Police are also trying to identify their vehicle which was parked in Stephens Road. If you have any information on this robbery, please call 101 and quote the crime reference number: 44180255148
We are asking if people can donate a spare pound or two to help this lovely man who Cat spoke with in length this afternoon, and who for obvious reasons wishes to remain anonymous.
