My sweet friend, Angela lost her amazing husband Jason Woodbury yesterday. She is the wonderful mother of three beautiful children with one peanut on the way. Having never met Jason myself, I have watched the joy he has brought to the life of my friend and love learning more about him. His chief gave a wonderful description of the man Jason is. These are his thoughts:
"Jason was a 3 ½ year veteran of the department and was assigned to Engine 10-A. Jason was so proud of being a Saint Paul Firefighter! He was wicked smart, and was enthusiastic and energetic in all his duties here. His death is a tragedy for his family and ours. Jason also served as a Lieutenant Commander in the US Naval Reserves, and he had extensive experience in the submarine corps. He had deployed several times to the Middle East theater in the past 5 years. Prior to coming to Saint Paul Fire, Jason worked as a high school Physics and Math teacher and an Athletic Director. He was a certified personal trainer, a head coach for local soccer teams, a self-defense instructor, and a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America. He was named “Most Outstanding Graduate” from the US Navy Nuclear Power School and had earned a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. "
Along with leaving a gaping hole in their hearts, Jason's loss leaves unexpected medical and funeral costs, along with unforeseen costs. Being a thousand+ miles away, this is one way I can help.
