Uganda 2019

I am currently involved in a 12 month leadership programme. This programme involves running Tag Rugby sessions within my local community as well as in areas of Uganda. My aim is to increase the number of young people that participate in physical activity on a regular basis. Whilst in Uganda I would like to improve and enhance the children's knowledge of Tag Rugby by visiting colleges, schools, orphanages and villages and teaching them how to play the game. I will also be developing the skills of young adults in Uganda to enable them to coach the game and organise tournaments so that the sport will continue to develop once I have completed my trip. I will also be taking out resources to help the people in Uganda, such as Tag Rugby equipment, kit, clothing and equipment for schools.
This project will challenge my coaching skills and my confidence. It will help to develop my communication skills and will also give me opportunities to gain more qualifications to enhance my personal and social development. It will help me to become a more rounded individual with an enhanced understanding of working amongst different cultures. Knowing that i have travelled to Uganda to coach disadvantaged children and that I was able to make a difference in the lives of others. I aim to use this experience by working within my own community to enhance the lives of young people through sport. This project will open new doors for me by meeting a variety of people including those that are disadvantaged in certain aspects of their lives. This will be a life changing and challenging project that I am totally committed to completing successfully.
