The Faucher Home Project

I would like you to picture in your head your childhood home. Where you grew up. The memories you had there. The friends you had there. Maybe some family members who are no longer with us. Old pets that are long, long gone. Long summer days, cool summer nights. Now imagine if someone wanted to take that away from you. An integral part of your childhood’s identity.

That is the predicament I’m in right now.

In 1902, the Fauchers came to Suncook and built a house on 19 Pleasant St. Aime and his wife Alice then raised their son, Robert in this house. He went, fought in Korea, and when he came back, he and his wife Anita raised their 6 children in this house. And when it came time for my father to raise his son, he could think of no better place than where his forefathers had. It is also where I plan to raise my children.

But that plan has been in jeopardy. In 2011, my beloved memere Anita passed away. The house ended up with the bank. And that is how it was. Until my father and my uncle passed away, both one after another. Before they died, they would spend hours recounting their youth to each other (the 70’s and 80’s). They always lamented that they were powerless to get the house back.

When they passed, I made up in my mind that this was my mission. To get back the place and rekindle my connection with my family. I want to someday cook a Christmas or Thanksgiving feast that all of my family will attend. I want to have a place to call my home, after spending so many years moving from place to place.

The bank is going to auction the house on September 19th. Time is of the essence. I’m already planning to move back up, and I hope to get enough money to at least pay off most of it, so I can work out a plan to pay it off, I’m willing to put in the hard work to keep this part of my family's legacy alive. If I’m lucky, with your help, I can pay off the full thing and work on the structure itself, which is falling apart.
