Francisco Cernada's Trip to Cuba

My name is Francisco Cernada, and I am a senior at YES Prep Gulfton. I am currently deciding between attending college at either Yale or Harvard University and pursuing a degree and career in international relations. This summer I have been offered an amazing opportunity to study government, inequality, and resource-use in Cuba first-hand with the School for Ethics and Global Leadership. Cuba is headlining the news after President Obama's visit to the country, the first U.S. Presidential visit since Eisenhower. That being said, the cohort of SEGL students to participate on the trip will be some of the first Americans to visit the country since, and see history in the making as Cuba normalizes relations with the United States.
Let's make one of the first Americans to arrive in Havana a YES Prep Gulfton Alumnus.
Not only will I gain unparalled access to one of the most politically unfamiliar countries in the world, but I will gain knowledge on my intended career path before I go off North for college. I have represented Gulfton for 7 years and want to take on the challenge of representing YPG once more, but in this case, internationally.
My time in Havana, Cuba will be spent studying government, politics, and it's newly developed relationship with the United States. In order for me to be fully able to afford the trip to Cuba, I have to meet a financial gap. With a part-time job, I am predicting that I need to raise $500 to meet the costs of the trip.
These kind of opportunities are unique, and come once in a lifetime. Any contribution is extremely appreciated and will take me one step closer towards being a truly global citizen.
