Carl the Buffalo

In order to celebrate Faux Pelini’s love of all things Bison and the NDSU football team’s 23-21 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2016, the National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown, North Dakota, volunteered to name the museum herd's first calf born in 2017 after Faux.  Always being humble, Faux preferred to bestow the honor on Carl Pelini.

We are very pleased to announce that Carl was born on April 11, 2017, weighing in at right around 50 pounds, and has been a feisty addition to our herd from the start!  Now that Carl is here, we are asking for your help.

The National Buffalo Museum was founded in 1991 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history of the American bison and promoting the bison industry of today.  From an initial herd of five bison, the museum is currently home to 30 bison, including Dakota Miracle, a rare white buffalo.  Each year the museum spends $7,500 feeding and maintaining the herd, which visitors to the museum can see.  You can learn more about the museum by visiting http://www.buffalomuseum.com/.

Your donation will help support the mission of the museum, educate the thousands of visitors who stop by the museum each year to learn more about our national mammal, and make sure that Carl has plenty to eat so he can grow into the 2,000 pound bull that can run a 2.2 second 40 he is destined to become.

Oh, and if we reach our goal, we will honor Faux Pelini with the Herdsman of the Year Award for 2017!
