People to People Fundraising Letter

Hello, my name is Tyler Brady, I'm a 16 year old sophomore at Mid Valley High School in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Recently, I was accepted into a program called "People to People", which sends students on trips that they otherwise wouldn't be able to take. The way you get accepted into this program is by gaining the recognition of teachers or administrators for hard work, citizenship, and other qualities of that nature. I was referred to this program by my vice principal. I've maintained a high grade point average (3.7 or above) for my entire academic career, have played on numerous sports teams including football, soccer, and baseball, and maintain a great relationship with my peers and teachers. I've achieved high success with a couple of bumps in the road. I have a visual impairment that makes it very hard for me to do many things without assistance. I'm legally blind and have been told it's nearly impossible for me to get better due to issues that simply can't be fixed. In order to move forward with school, I've needed large print, blue paper, a CCTV (a laptop sized enlargement device), and occasionally a cane. I also lost my father in early 2012 in a car accident. He was my hero, and always wanted me to do this as to help me get into a good college. I'm asking you today for help. The trip that I have been chosen for is a leadership summit for political and foreign affairs. I am going to NYC and staying at Columbia University for 4 days where I will do things such as visit Ellis Island, meet Hamid Al-Bayati (the Iraqi ambassador to the U.N., tour the U.N., and a plethora of other things. After NYC, we are traveling south to our nation's Capitol, Washington D.C., where we will stay at George Washington University and visit many different museums, monuments, and work on a resolution for the U.N.. This is where I need your help. Before I can do all of this incredible work, I need to do a bit of fundraising. I need to raise around $2500. If you or your business are willing to give anything, please understand I'm not asking for the whole amount, I don't want to be selfish, any amount of money you may want to give will be highly appreciated, and obviously put to good use. This trip will help my future more than I can explain, I aim to be a lawyer, and after that a politician. With your help, I hope to not only better myself, but also in the long run, the best country in the world, The United States of America. Thank you for your time.

Hey Guys, it's me again. The trip is a little over 60 days away and I need a little more help. I'm still short on tuition by just a little because we were penalized for picking an airport that apparently wasn't available even though that was the preferred airport of choice for them. After that we need funds for things like the travel expenses and things relating to that. If there is anybody you know that might be willing to help, please ask them, if there is any work I can do for you to earn a couple bucks to put towards this trip, please let me know. Thank you!

We're almost there! From the donations I've received from all of you and the ones who decided to mail in their donations, I've been propelled into a position that I only need 800 dollars for tuition, if you know anyone that can help, please let them know! Thank you all so much!
