The Tillyer Family
At just 32 weeks, Lauren Tillyer's water broke unexpectedly and she was rushed to the hospital. Once Lukas was born, he was transferred to Surrey Memorial Hospital, needing round-the-clock care at the NICU. The Tillyer family were able to stay at the Ronald McDonald Family Room, where they remained by baby Lukas' side as he received the treatment he needed.

For over thirty years, Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon has been providing accommodation for seriously ill children and their families when they must travel to Vancouver for their child’s major treatment. The House serves 2,000 families each year in 73 spacious suites.
On June 2, 2014, the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Surrey Memorial Hospital was also opened. A House within the hospital, the Ronald McDonald Family Room serves over 700 families each year, and is a welcoming refuge for families of children admitted for treatment.
