Ab Genece Recovery Fund

Dear Family and Friends:

We are reaching out to you on behalf of our dear brother and cousin, Abner J. Genece.

As you may have heard, Ab and his 11-year old son Jayden, were in a nearly fatal auto accident on Sunday, July 2, 2017, while in route from Denver, Colorado to Portland, Oregon for a holiday visit with Richard, Nadine, Simon and Savannah.

Here they are in Point of Rock, Wyoming about one hour before the accident:

While traveling through Wyoming,  they were rear-ended by a semi-truck going at least 60 mph and were then slammed into a U-Haul truck that was in front of them. Both Ab and Jayden were airlifted from the scene to two separate  hospitals in Utah.   Although Jayden was hurt, we are very thankful and happy to report that he has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home with his mom in Denver.  Jayden will need to wear a neck brace for 8 weeks.

The injuries that Ab sustained, however, are quite a bit more serious and required multiple surgeries on his ribs and spine.  The good news is that Ab is now “The Bionic Man"  since he has nine (9) metal plates in his body supporting him :-).

Needless to say, this accident could have resulted in an outcome that we shudder to even think about.  We thank God daily that both their lives were spared.   Ab remains hospitalized at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, and faces a long road ahead towards recovery and healing -  a journey which  will be difficult, painful and expensive.  But with two major acting gigs coming up in September 2017 and May 2018, in Wyoming and Denver, respectively, he is highly motivated to recover fully,  despite the intense difficulty.  We all know how God likes to “show out” so, we are doing all that we can to help him on the journey to making those goals.

Thus, we come to you now, to ask for financial support for Ab.  We have established this Go Fund Me Recovery Fund to help Ab navigate his bills and mounting recovery-related but non-medical expenses.

Donations can be made via Go Fund Me at https://www.gofundme.com/7je4v-abs-medical-assistance-fund (just click on "DONATE") and via PayPal.  If you choose Pay Pal, contact Richard (see above) and he will provide you with the information.   It is preferable that donations be made through GoFundMe and PayPal, however, if that isn't feasible, donations can also be made via a check and mailed directly to Ab Genece at: 6165 E. Iliff Avenue, Apt. D417, Denver, CO  80222-5816.

We thank you in advance, with profound appreciation and humility, for any support you are able to give.  Most importantly, we thank you for your continued prayers and support. They have been felt and they will continue to buoy us all, most especially, Ab, who is well aware of the force of family and friends that he is blessed to have in his corner.

Let us leave you with a passage from one of Ab’s favorite psalms, Psalm 118,  that states in part:

“The Lord’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”

I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done.”

In loving gratitude,

Richard Genece, Michelle Genece Patterson,
