Project X: A Poet's Dream

Greetings and Salutations!

First, thank you so very much for coming to check out my fundraiser. It means the world to me just to have people aware of such a good cause. Secondly, let me introduce myself and the project.

Who is 2Deep The Poetess?
You can check out my EPK ( Electronic Press Kit) here: 2Deep's EPK website. But, in short, I am a professional poet in the Washington, DC metro area and have been performing poetry all over the country and Canada since 2006. I appeared at the Washington National Cathedral, and my poem D.O.C. was presented before Maryland State lawmakers working to increase charges against acts of domestic violence in the presence of children. I have a published book called Spoken Heard and I am currently working on my newest project, Project X.

What is Project X?
Project X is a collaborative project where I have called on some of my favorite poets to help me showcase poetry in a new and creative way. These poets are helping to stretch my repertoire, taking me out of my comfort zone, and helping renew my faith in the idea of community amongst poets. Project X will show the world that poetry can be about anything! This project will showcase different topics, different kinds of poetry, and the benefits of using this avenue of expression.

I want to showcase how poems come to life through beautiful stanzas of verse and prose; the behind the scenes point of view. Poetry is merely life's transcript and I want to bring that transcript alive in a new and interesting way.

What is the purpose/mission of Project X?
Project X was birthed out of a dream that I had four years ago. Every time I brought this idea up someone told me that it would not work. I refused to believe that such a vivid dream was meant to remain just a dream. So I found people who would listen, who saw the same beauty as I had in such a project. And Project X was born.

Its mission is to show the raw emotion, the comedy, the drama, the pulse behind poetry. It will showcase the different views behind each walk of life. It will be the final nail in the "I Told You So" coffin. It will be the victory song for everyone who was told that their dreams weren't good enough. This will be the birth of "solution poetry". The masses that come in contact with this project will see poetry in a new light, will share this project with their friends, and will understand why poets are so addicted to their art. This will give poetry a new facelift so that it will be received by more audiences who may not attend poetry readings on a regular basis. So the overall purpose of Project X will be to become a beacon of light, the symbol of hope, that if you continue to work hard:your dreams can come true.

How will your donations be used?
I am reaching into my personal savings to help fund the majority of this project. This fundraiser is to help cover the cost of studio time, rentals, publishing, graphics and production costs. I am expending personal funds for the bulk of the cost that comes with trying to get a project of this magnitude off of the ground. There are so many parts to my project that I am bursting at the seams with excitement.

No donation is too small. If you can only donate $1.  I will hug you just as appreciatively as I would if you gave me $100. I am extremely grateful for everyone who is able to donate to my dream project.
