Matthew Palmer, a 2012 graduate of Asher High School, tragically lost his life while on duty at the Firelake Grand Casino on January 10, 2017 when he was shot by a coworker.
Matthew had a contagious smile, a heart of gold, and always accepted and befriended people who struggled to fit in. He was a standout athlete garnering All-State Baseball honors as a senior, an avid hunter, fisherman, and had a passion for disc golf. He also loved volunteering for the Special Olympics while a member of Asher Students in Action in high school.
Matthew loved his family and friends immensely. Felecia was the love of his life and his soulmate.
Matthew's family and fiance have partnered with Asher High School to honor and memorialize him by establishing the Matthew Palmer Memorial Scholarship for deserving Asher High School seniors beginning May 2018.
