I met this family in 2015, when it was bought to my attention they purchsed a home from a criminal who led them to believe he was the rightful owner of the house.
They searched on Craigslit for a home they could buy for cash. The seller met them at the Dallas Records building on Main street to collect payment and issue a warranty deed. Mr. Palma, the buyer, brought a cahiers check, and dealt with a specific clerk that the seller wanted them to deal with.
Before giving the seller the money they asked the clerk if there was any title issues. She stated no.
They then paid the seller, got thier warranty deed and now they were owners of house. So they thought . 1 month later a man knocked on thier door to ask them to leave his house or pay $70,000 for it. They thought he was a scammer and reported him to the police. They realized soon after that the man who knocked on the door was the legal owner of the house, and they were sold a house ilegaly. This poor family invested everything they had fixing this home and making it habitable. It was boarded up when they purchsed it. Their entire life savings is in this house. We found out that the legal owner had a mortgage with Ditech mortgage of which he had not paid since 2015 and they were foreclosing on the home the Aug 1. We reached out to attorney's for Ditech mortgage to delay the foreclosure for 30-45 days, in order to allow the falmity to try to find a solution. Unfortunately the home was forclosed Tuesday, August 1, 2017. This family of 9, has a special needs child, She is due to have major brain surgery soon. We want to raise enough funds to relocate this family and allow the baby to have a home to come to after her delicate surgery on her brain.
This ia a hard working, tax paying decent family who now will be out on the street in the next 2 weeks or so.
