I actually have mixed feelings about doing this campaign because I've always been very independant and have never really liked asking others for help. I am to the point now, though, that if I don't reach out for help, then it's not going to happen in the timeframe that I need it to. I will tell you a little about me, then I will tell you why I feel the need to ask for help.
My name is Eva. I am mom to 3 wonderful daughters and grandma to the most precious little boy. I've spent the last year helping to care for my Mom, who passed away from COPD (and related troubles) September 3rd of 2013.
My plan was to go back to school and earn my degree so that I could get a decent paying job. After caring for Mom for so long, I decided that I truly wanted to get my CNA license and work either in home health or hospice. It's an extremely short school period (5 to 7 weeks) good pay, good demand for work, and I could be there for the sick and elderly and hopefully give something back to people in their time of need. I was actually able to come up with the down payment to attend CNA classes. I paid my $300 down and started attending. It didn't take long for me to realize that the school was only there for the money, and didn't really care about their students. It didn't help that half their equipment was broken as well. I decided to withdraw and find a better school....a DECENT school. It was a hard decision considering I would forfeit my deposit, but the school was that bad and I decided it would be best to cut my losses.
I have finally been able to save enough of a deposit to go to a different CNA school. The problem now is that I will have to have the remainder of the payment within 3 weeks of starting school. It is extremely important for me to get to school as soon as possible so that I can contribute to the day-to-day cost of living for our family.
