Hello! My name is JR. In 2013 my brother and I, together with our close friend Ananda from Sri Lanka and his family, started a real elephant sanctuary called the Elephant Freedom Project.
The Elephant Freedom Project was born out of a belief that captive elephants in Sri Lanka needed a place where they could find peace and be treated with respect.
We now have two wonderful young elephants at the sanctuary and all is coming together providing them with a fantastic life (see facebook for images and video) without fear of the horrid abuse so often seen on Facebook and Youtube.
Improving animal welfare is expensive and difficult for us to fund on our own. With your donation today you will be helping the elephants by getting a roof above their head for when the monsoon comes. Elephants need shelter too when it rains and they need good protection from the lightning.
I and the elephants would be forever grateful for your contribution to the elephants' cause. You can be assured that your donation is helping a lot more than just the elephants. The project helps the community, providing work for labourers, attracting tourists to the community to see the elephants, educating the children & adults alike about animal welfare and shows the surrounding elephant safari (riding) places that treating animals with love and respect is the best way forwards.
