Saving Dora

Fred has always been a dog lover, but since the loss of his previous dog Abby many years ago, has not been able to bring himself up to caring for another pup.
However, this summer my dad and Christine came across two beautiful dogs who grew up together, and were in desperate need of a forever home.  They knew what had to be done, and took them home.  After months of bliss for both the dogs, and the new owners, tragedy has struck.
While on vacation, the dogs were with a fulltime pet sitter.  While out for a hike at balls falls Dora' lead broke and she ran away from her caregiver.  Though she searched relentlessly,  no sign of her could be found.  Multiple social media posts, flyers and signs were posted in hope of good news, but aside from a few possible sightings, nothing for two days.
Then, the worst phone call we have recieved. Dora had been hit by a truck on Victoria Ave, in beamsville. The gentleman knew there was a Roti that was at the Tow Company he worked at, after looking for the one he hit, he went there to see if it was their dog. Their dog was in the back room. The Lady at the front desk remembered seeing the dog on Social Media that morning and contacted the Caregiver and Susan with the information.
Multiple volunteers came forward.  Our saviours, and Dora' saviour to be honest. An amazing woman who specializes in tracking lost pets came out, and found Dora within the hour, and immediately rushed her to a veterinarian hospital. Dora had made it almost 3 miles, injured, broken, and exhausted.  When our saviour found her, Dora had given up and was laying down at the edge of a field along some tracks.
As Dora was examined, the true scale of her injuries were revealed to us. She has a broken and dislocated femur, multiple bone deep lacerations, a snapped ligament, and possible spleen damage.
The initial veterinarian was extremely kind and charged us very little for her initial examination, but as they closed for the night, it was clear she needed immediate and long term care.  She was transferred to a 24 hour emergency clinic. In less than 8 hours from being found, her vet Bill's have totaled more than $1300, and mich more is yet to come.
Dora is, as of this very moment, on her way to the Ontario Veterinary College in guelph to under go the surgery to repair all the damage.  The quote for the surgery, antibiotics,  imaging, and 3-5 days in the ICU after, is a staggering $5000. This price includes no after care costs or needs.
I'm posting this on behalf of my father.  He is a man that has sacrificed for many family and friends and I wish to help him in return.  It's his turn to recieve what he has always given to those in need.  Some much deserved help.  He wont give up and Dora. He promised her a forever owner, a forever home, through thick and thin.  He promised to do everything needed for her health.  I'm hoping for help in this from anyone possible.

Thanks for your time and consideration on this.  We are staying hopeful and optimistic for a full recovery and a happy and healthy Dora.
