I've changed my amount of money that needs to be raised. Because of the $8000 chair on eBay my goals are now more attainable. The air conditioning is almost paid for and now the wheelchair will be accomplished if you can reach out to other friends to help this campaign come to an end. We can do it!

The cost of that wheelchair new is $55,000. I found the same wheelchair used for $8000 on eBay.

Help me get the $8000 I need to purchase this chair and my gofundme will disappear with a 100% success rate! I know this can be done :-) I'm sitting in a cool house now help me get into a cool chair!




About this campaign:

Keep Bruce Bruce. We all love free-range Bruce, out and about, cruising freely, spreading his wisdom, scaring Trump supporters everywhere. But all of this is at risk and we need your help to keep Bruce unchained and free-ranging!

In a world with missing curb cuts and pee-stained elevators, a world of “managed care” and greedy HMOs, Bruce’s freedom is limited by how much money he can spend on it.

 This campaign aims to primarily fund a new badass wheelchair for Bruce. It also includes a new cushion that can measure its inflation, as well as medical bills and an air-conditioning unit that will keep Bruce alive during the summer months.


The new wheelchair will allow Bruce to travel safely outdoors and continue to live his Bruce-style. The chair, including accessories, costs well over $55,000 and is not covered by his insurance. (The only type of chair Bruce’s insurance would cover is a basic model that is appropriate for indoor use only and would therefore severely limit his range and quality of life.)

 With this chair, Bruce can continue to make our lives better by hanging out with us, going camping with us, getting stuck on the beach with us, giving us hair-raising downhill rides on the back of his chair, and much much more. And don’t worry, there will be an off switch for those times when he gets on your nerves and needs a time-out.



Bruce, by himself, can’t afford this chair. But all of us together can afford this chair – and, admit it, we’ll all benefit from it just as much as he does.

 So break out those credit cards and help us all buy some freedom for our favorite Bruce.

Background -or- How it all began:

For those of you who don’t know Bruce - he broke his neck in 1973 at the age of 18. He jumped from a bridge into the muddy Russian River to save a kitten who was about to drown (okay – I made up the part about the kitten). 

His injuries left him paralyzed from the neck down and in the hospital for over a year.  The doctors told him that with a lot of luck he could expect to live 10 to 12 years. 

 Well it's been almost 43 years, and in that time Bruce went on to defy all expectations and live a truly independent life.  He graduated from college with a BS degree in business with a focus on finance and CIS.  He went on to earn an MBA with a focus in telecommunication and spent his entire career working for a telecommunications company.   Bruce was downsized about 8 years ago – 2008 to be exact which left him and millions of others unemployed.

Being a productive member of society for his entire career, Bruce had to pay out of pocket for most of his wheelchairs because they are not covered by medical insurance. Forcing Bruce to buy multiple used chairs and “Frankenstein” them together to get around.  



 This is why we are trying to get him his state-of-the-art wheelchair that will propel him into the future. Some of the benefits of the chair are: smoother ride, better traction on uneven surfaces, ability to go up steep hills, better seating to minimize skin issues. But most of all, it will get Bruce off his ass and out of the house so that we can spend more time with him!
