Please Help Cindy Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Seven years ago, Cindy Dobson was diagnosed with breast cancer. After going through treatment, she found out one month ago that the cancer has metastasized and spread to her spine, hips, and ribs. To combat it spreading any further, she’s currently taking a medicine called Verzenio. This is a drug that helps slows cancer cell growth and division, causing the cells to become inactive and die. It’s an extremely expensive drug, and costs about $2,000 per month after insurance. It’s more than likely that she will have to take it for the rest of her life. More details on Verzenio can be found here.

Upon receiving the news, Cindy’s been faced with navigating unfamiliar physical limitations. She can’t lift any weight over 5 lbs., and she can’t drive. The medicine has her feeling lethargic and sleepy, combined with mental fog.

Despite these challenges, she keeps a positive attitude. She’s someone who loves to laugh, learn, and help others. She has a talent for seeing others’ pain and lifting them up when they need it most. She not only does this with family and friends, but she does it with people she’s hardly acquainted with because she wants people to see their worth and believe in themselves. She knows that not everyone has a support system, and she takes it upon herself to be that for someone who needs it. It’s incredible. And it takes a strong person to really “see” people. This is a behavior I’ve witnessed many times.

Cindy is truly a warrior of a woman. And right now, her goal is to listen to advice and follow directions from her doctors, just as she did seven years ago.

But she’s in an extreme amount of pain. A type of pain that has an unforgiving, 24/7 cycle of it.

It’s well known that cancer affects every component of one’s health. It goes after the physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental well-being. And if that weren’t enough, cancer is an extremely expensive disease to treat. It’s simply not fair, and it doesn’t make sense.

In addition, cancer patients are told to keep their stress at bay, and to take care of their emotional well-being. But it’s tough to do that when cancer patients are stressed about how they’re going to afford their treatments.

That’s why we, the family and friends of Cindy Dobson, ask for your support in any way you can. We ask for your time however you can offer it.

Whether that means donating financially, sharing this post, or offering words of encouragement, it's appreciated more than you know. We absolutely mean it when we say that anything helps. And your donations will go directly towards the cost of treatment.

... I’ll be honest. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cry while writing this.

I’m sitting at my desk and my hands are shaking every time my fingers hit the keyboard. My leg is doing that “leg bounce” thing uncontrollably. And my glasses could really use a microfiber cloth right now.

Thank you—THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts—for your support. Thank you for being here and learning more about her story.

To our dearest Cindy: We hope you know how much you’re loved. Your efforts to be there and show love to so many people in your life is recognized. We recognize and admire your positive attitude, your high level of integrity, and your selfless nature. It’s our turn now to come together and be there for you.

Cindy, we know how much you love the people in your life. And we want you to know that the best way you can show love to us is by taking care of yourself, and letting us help in any way we can.
