Help Crystal fight Chiari

To my dearest family, friends, and well wishers.

Crystal is a loving mother to 3 beautiful kids and a wonderful sister, daughter,aunt and friend. She has recently been diagnosed with a life long rare condition called Chiari malformation and will needy have brain surgery soon. This was heartbreaking to hear because Crystal is an amazing human being who does not deserve any of this.

For a while now Crystal has been experiencing symptoms of neck/body pain, pressure in back of head and most recent vision loss in one eye. This vision loss is what led to her diagnosis. She had gone to an optometrist thinking she just needed glasses. Within a few days of wearing them she had noticed her glasses were not working anymore. She called her optometrist and he suggested she go to the ER where she was given a MRI and unfortunately diagnosed with Chiari Malformation..Type 1. Crystal has seen specialists at Yale hospital and in Manhattan where she was told that surgery would be her best option. Unfortunately there aren't any specialists in CT so she would have to travel out of state for dr.appointments and for her surgery. ALL donations will be used towards traveling expenses, dr.visit costs, child care ,and any medical necessities needed. Crystal has a lot going on and the last thing she needs is stress. Stress is a big no no when having Chiari and we want to help make her life a little less stressful in any way we can.

I'm sure a lot of you are asking what is Chiari Malformation?
•Chiari is a rare condition in which brain tissue extends into your spinal canal. It occurs when part of your skull is abnormally small or misshapen, pressing on your brain and forcing it downward. Some types of Chiari malformations may require surgery to relieve increased pressure inside the head or neck area, or to help drain excess cerebral spinal fluid from the brain. Unfortunately all types of Chiari are incurable. Even tho this surgery will not cure her, it is necessary to help relieve any symptoms she is having and hopefully prevent her from gaining any more.
