2019 Romanian Computer Science Olympians

High schools in Romania are known to graduate many computer science prodigies. But due to financial hardship, only a small fraction of these talented students get a chance to realize their full potential.
Some of these students are lucky to have the opportunity to participate in international competitions where their stellar performance doesn’t go unnoticed. For these lucky students, attending a global competition is a once in a lifetime opportunity!
But many are not so lucky. For 12 high school students from Grigore Moisil Computer Science High School in Brașov this happy scenario is just out of reach. After taking home top prizes in local and regional pre-qualifying stages, these bright high school programmers have been invited to compete in the prestigious final competition hosted by the American Computer Science League (ACSL) on May 25 at Wayne Hills HS, Wayne, New Jersey, USA.
Unfortunately, they lack the money needed to travel to the US—approximately $3,000 per student required for transportation and housing. Without financial support, they won't get their fair chance at competing alongside 250 elite teams featuring some of the finest high school programmers in the world. And that would be a shame.
As an alum of Grigore Moisil Computer Science High School, I put together this fundraising campaign because I believe in these students' talent and great potential. I hope you will join me in supporting this campaign to raise part of the funds necessary to cover their trip.

**All funds raised in this campaign will be used to cover expenses for the students' trip to the American Computer Science League (ACSL) annual competition on May 25, 2019 in Wayne, New Jersey, USA.
In addition to donating to the cause, I pledge to cover all fees associated with this GoFundMe campaign so that each and every dollar you give will be spent to further their cause. Based on GoFundMe's terms, I will be withdrawing the funds into my personal bank account, and transfer them via PayPal to Prof. Manuela Corina Șerban, the coordinator of the student group at Grigore Moisil Computer Science High School in Brasov.

Aşa după cum se întâmplă anual, de mai bine de 40 de ani, în decembrie anul trecut s-a dat startul unei noi ediţii a prestigiosului concurs internaţional de informatică organizat de American Computer Science League (ACSL) pentru elevii de liceu. Printre cei înscrişi anul acesta se numără şi elevii Colegiului Naţional de Informatică „Grigore Moisil” Braşov, recunoscută pepinieră de informaticieni, cu un palmares intern şi internaţional impresionant.
Şi în acest an, Colegiul Naţional de Informatică „Grigore Moisil” Braşov participă la acest concurs. La etapele preliminare, desfăşurate pe internet, obţinându-se punctaje foarte apropiate de maxim, sau chiar maxime.
Având in vedere rezultatele obţinute până acum şi experienţa de concurs dobândită de elevi şi de profesorii coordonatori, avem convingerea că şi în acest an echipele noastre vor putea obţine locuri fruntaşe la marea finală din Wayne, New Jersey.
Din motive binecunoscute, nici şcoala, nici familiile elevilor noştri nu vor putea acoperi costurile transportului şi al şederii în SUA (în jur de 2500USD/persoană). Depinde deci, în mare măsură, de înţelegerea şi bunăvoinţa dumneavoastră ca şi în acest an elevii de la Colegiul Naţional de Informatică „Grigore Moisil” Braşov să se întoarcă glorioşi dintr-o confruntare internaţională a tinerelor elite.
