Paige's Medical Fund

Three months ago my precious daughter Paige was a vibrant, ambitious, and hard working young woman of 23 years. After graduating from the University of Kentucky she was pursuing her dream job with St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital working day & night to serve the St. Jude community. While traveling for work she began to notice some flu like symptoms that she assumed would quickly pass. But they didn't. After many invasive tests, Paige was eventually diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia, an extremely rare and life threatening disease treatable only by intensive chemotherapy and stem cell bone marrow transplant.

As you might imagine this has thrown not only Paige but our entire family into a state of shock. Just in order to live Paige has been receiving regular blood transfusions every few days since her diagnosis.  On July 5, she began chemotherapy. Then on July 14th she is scheduled to receive her stem cell bone marrow transplant. We are thankful that her brother, George, can serve as the donor. Which is a answer to prayer. However, this will require a brief hospital stay for him as well.

Paige requires approximately 6 months of treatments that require round the clock care in a sterile environment. In addition, she must reside within 15 minutes of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

As you can imagine, these requirements are placing a significant financial and emotional strain on Paige and our family. We already have temporary housing in place but our situation could change depending on Paige's reactions to the transplant and possibly being  hospitalized.

I only ask for your assistance because this is truly a matter of saving my daughter's life and allowing her to become again the woman she was just a few short months ago. Please know that your donation will be used to help defray medical expenses for both her inpatient and outpatient care, nursing care, required housing near Johns Hopkins Hospital (currently we have temporary housing), treatment costs, prescription drug costs and other medical needs. If after covering her medical expenses there are any resources remaining please be assured that Paige will donate them back to the 'Aplastic Anemia Foundation' to help the next person who receives this life threatening diagnosis.

So today I humbly ask you to open your hearts to help my daughter, as well as my family, during this very difficult time. This is a disease that will take a village to withstand.

Thank you for your kindness.
