Kenya 2019 DES and WEST DORSET

In the summer of 2019 I, along 20 other scouts from across the district, will travel with the Dorset Expoditionary Society to rural Kenya.
Whilst there, I will complet two weeks of of community service with the local village in the Maara district. This will include the development of the Baragu Health centre, renovating homes for struggling families, improving the local school and aiding teachers in Maths and English lessons. Additionally we will be working with local tribes.
We will be staying on a local farm and be expected to eat the crops that we can harvest whilst we’re there.
As well as this the team will complete a four day hike to summit Mount Kenya, the second highest peak in Africa.
