Help Fight A Corrupt Court Case

Donation protected
Tldr: my close friend is a lgbt black woman who is fighting a court case in post Texas and is being denied fair due process This is a story of a close friend of mine Ky grew up in a broken home raised by her grandmother. She never knew her father growing up and never had much. She knew she was a lesbian growing up and overcame depression and mental illness. From a young age was a victim of human trafficking and physical abuse. She had even been forced to into homelessness as a youth A few years ago Ky had overcome her past, she was working a full time job and had recently met her long lost father and found a real family in him and her new born brother. The only problem is Ky lives in Texas and her new found family is in Colorado. Last year she saved up her money and got a ride to be reunited with her family in Colorado. On the way back she was in a car with two Friends. She was not the driver and was just along for a ride home, when the car was pulled over for reckless driving. Everyone in the car was arrested. The police sized marijuana from the car but it did not belong to Ky. Of the three people arrested that day Ky is a Black lesbian woman and her travel companions were straight white men. Both of them were released with in a few days. Ky spent the next 5 months in jail unable to make bail. For the past year she has been making her court appointments traveling several hours to a small town of Post, Texas, which itself has made it difficult to rebuild her life. working hard to support herself while homeless, holding down a job, make her court dates and pay her probation fees, doing absolutely everything within her power to be a productive member of society, despite her history of abuse, mental illness, and the struggles of being a black lesbian in southern texas. Ky was appointed a public defender, who unknown to her at the time is the son-in-law of the judge presiding over her case. When her indictment was read, Ky was forced out of the court room. She was denied the right to know what she is being accused of and her attorney explicitly refused to tell her. Months later she returns to court and is presented with a plea bargain. When she asked to read the plea bargain, she was forced to leave the room. Still unaware of what she is being on trial for and unaware of what she was signing. She rightfully declined to sign, refusing to unknowingly sign away her life, which was enough reason for her court appointed lawyer to drop her as a client and now she is without legal counsel. Ky will be on trial in only a few days and I am very worried she will be denied her civil right of due process again #blm #lgbt #lgbtrights #help #justiceforky Kylah needs help obtaining a real attorney that can help her be done with this case so she can move forward with her life.  All of the court trips over the past 9 months have drained her financially.  She is quickly losing hope as she is immersed in the small-town Texas legal system.
