Joel Hall's Cancer Journey

In February 2015 we were shocked to find out Joel had cancer on his colon.  We were blessed they accidentaly found it, as he was only 46 at the time, & never had a colonoscopy.  We were completely shocked & terrified.  Fortunatley they were able to cure him with surgery.  They removed part of his colon, but no colostomy bag or chemo was needed.  Even though our lives were changed forever, we were grateful.   We were forced to file bankruptcy but he was cancer free & that is what mattered.  Four years have passed & in one more year we would have made it to the safe spot of 5 years.  No more blood tests or scans every few months, no constant worry.  "ONE MORE CT SCAN THE ONCOLOGIST SAID" just to be on the safe side.  

The first Tuesday in March of this year I got the call no one ever wants to get.  The scan revealed "FOUR" cancerous lesions on Joels liver.  It was back with a VENGANCE!!!  We are dealing with stage 4 because it is reacurring.  Like the thief cancer is, it has stole all our joy & peace.  Since that day we have spent every Monday having scans & doctors appointments.  We are not as lucky this time around.  Joel will start with 3 months of chemo & a major surgery at OHSU followed by 3 more months of chemo.  We are blessed with good medical insurance and anyone who knows Joel knows he will try to work through it all.  The reality is we will still be left with thousands of dollars in medical bills.  There will be many sick days off from work, & weeks off after surgery.  It is very difficult & humbling to ask for help in this way.  But so many friends & family have asked what they can do.  We would like to just be able to focus on one another & getting "JOEL WELL" not the finacial devistation this disease leaves behind.  We apprieciate all of you & all your prayers"ANYTHING" helps.  Thank you with all our heart we will keep you updated as things progress.
