On Monday 11-26-18, Nancy and her family woke up to their house in flames. The house is destroyed and everything in it.  Unfortunately, Nancy's mom and oldest son Jonathan (age 9) suffered second and third degree burns as they escaped the house. Both are in the ICU in the Burn until at University of Irvine Hospital right now where they are under close observation.   We do not know the extent of their  injuries yet. Nancy's two youngest children, Natalia (age 4)  and Mateo (age 2) were not injured.  Nancy is a single mom and sole provider for her family.    Please consider dontating to this  amazing  mom who will have a long road ahead of her.

Good news! Jonathan will be discharged tomorrow! He will have quite a bit of work to do with physical therapy and daily wound care, but he should be able to go back to school in January. Here is a picture that the wonderful people at Nancy's work sent (along with candy!) to help the healing process. Jonathan will be in a wheelchair and use a walker for short distances until the 3rd degree burn on his foot begins to heal. When I spoke to Nancy tonight, Jonathan was happily beating his mom in "Uno" and in great spirits!

Juanita remains stable as they continue to do more surgeries for her burns. She is expected to be at the hospital for 3-4 months. Nancy and her family will be living at a hotel until the insurance company can better assess the situation.

I will be arranging a meal train for anyone that would like to participate (either in person or through Door Dash, Grub-Hub, etc), so that Nancy can focus on taking care of her children, while also supporting her mother's recovery. I will post to this website shortly.

Thank you to everyone who has donated items, prayers and financial assistance!

Update-Jonathan's surgery went well yesterday. He had second degree burns on his arm and the back of his head. It will take about 10 days to see how well the skin graft takes in those areas. He has a third degree burn on his foot, and will need to wear a special shoe made for him that will allow him to walk. They are hoping he will be discharged from the hospital next week. He has such a wonderful spirit and attitude and was ready for more wheelchair races as soon as is allowed! Juanita had surgery on her neck, chest, left arm and her head. The wounds were much deeper than originally suspected. She will have another surgery tomorrow. She will likely be in the hospital for 3-4 months. Thank you to everyone's outpouring of prayers and support.
