World Challenge Madagascar 2019

Donation protected
This year in 2019, 17 classmates and myself have planned to set out on a trip to Madagascar with the aid of a company called World Challenge which strives to give students an experience of a lifetime by helping out the local communities for example by rebuilding houses, roads, helping out schools by entertaining the children and getting to know their culture and educate them about ours. We will also be replanting the mangroves which are some of the main habitats for the unique species that come from Madagascar. Birds, sea turtles and dugongs are some of the main species which use these trees for shelter and safety. Madagascar is one of the only countries in the world which contains more than 80% of its species which do not exist anywhere else on this planet.

To be able to go on this expedition we all have to save up €3600 for the flights over there, the equipment and the food that we get. To raise this money, we are setting up cake sales at school, movie nights and earning money with our jobs. We will be in Madagascar for three weeks, one week we will be helping out the local community by replanting mangroves, building new infrastructure and looking for food. The second week, we will be hiking with heavy bags each day where we can explore the true nature of its environment and its species. The last week, we will have a so called relaxing week, where we can attend some activities such as scuba diving or bungee jumping.

This trip is a once in a lifetime experience where we can choose what to do. It will teach us new life skills, wildlife skills and ways that less fortunate people in an LEDC survive whilst also learning their culture.
